The Sr. Designer will report to the Design Director and work closely with both clients and Pink Sparrow’s bi-coastal Biz Dev, Project Management and Fabrication teams  to lead projects from ideation to fruition. The Sr. Designer role requires a broad and diverse range of experiences, pulling from fields like experience design, architecture, themed entertainment, stage design, product design, and more.The Sr Designer must be personable, collaborative, and comfortable with the ambiguity of the design process. Pink Sparrow’s design studio  is defined by a fast-paced, nimble, ambitious exploration of the unknown - often with clients that rely on us to establish their spatial identity.  We are looking for supportive, positive, generous, and adaptable collaborators to help push our studio forward.

Our ideal Sr. Designer will be a well-rounded professional - someone who can maintain and strengthen relationships with clients, vendors and subcontractors while generating innovative, achievable designs within budget and on time.  The Sr Designer role requires experience with both Brand and Agency teams, and will collaborate with both clients and other Pink Sparrow teams to further develop concepts into compelling, buildable proposals. Additionally, the Sr Designer provides mentorship and oversight to Jr Designers and partners with the Design Director to build design budgets and project timelines, then works attentively  to make sure the design intention remains intact  throughout the fabrication process. 


Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Create and/or oversee the creation and execution of design projects from initial contact through all design, fabrication, and installation phases. 

  • Develop and/or oversee the development of design-focused pitch decks, and present them to potential and current clients 

  • Collaborate on and further develop pre-established client design ideas (mood boards, models, sketches, etc.) into actionable designs.

  • Support the Design Director with all Design department workflow, staffing, and project deadlines as needed

  • Support Managing Director, Biz Dev, Director of Fabrication, Project Management, and Department Leads as it pertains to the procurement and execution of design work

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and management support for the Design department

  • Ensure quality standards are effectively maintained within the Department and through the life cycle of each assigned project

  • Support and develop overall departmental goals and objectives as set in collaboration with the Leadership Team

  • Support and refine department protocols and department standards for internal and client-facing presentations

  • Support overall business goals as set by the company

  • Attend weekly departmental meetings and assigned project Pass-Off and Kick-Off meetings

  • Assist in maintaining the organization of shared files according to departmental guidelines

  • Identify specialty materials, finishes, and hardware as defined by the scope of the design

  • Be present, collaborate, and be available to Management and Fabrication teams as designs are fabricated and executed.

  • Partner with other stakeholders in creating and updating standardized templates for internal and external use

  • Participate and contribute to departmental and company culture objectives

  • Complete project wrap reports for all completed projects to aid in departmental and company growth

The ideal candidate will:


  • Minimum 5 years experience as a design professional and 2 leading a team

  • Working knowledge of Rhino 3D,Sketchup, AutoCad, and Adobe Creative Suite and professional rendering softwares (ie VRay, TwinMotion, Enscape or similar)

  • Working knowledge of G Suites (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail)

  • Professional experience working in creating 3D models, renderings, presentation decks and bid packages

  • Professional experience presenting designs, and otherwise communicating with a client

  • Ability to quickly decipher client needs and understand priorities, both internal and external

  • Ability to think creatively about a variety of challenges within the design and fabrication scope

  • Working experience with various materials and fabrication techniques (wood, metal/welding, hardware, plastics, laminates, fabrics/textiles)

  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and team focused

  • Must be flexible and adaptable to constant change

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to provide written reports and feedback
