Senior Project Architect

Licensed architect or non-registered graduate with experience in design and management of educational projects.  The Senior Project Architect has overall responsibility for all aspects of the project including the direction of the design.  This is an exempt and salaried position. 

Typical Responsibilities: These responsibilities are typical but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to work collaboratively as a team member and to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule, within the project budget and the budgeted hours provided.

  • Development of the project design and daily direction for implementing the design.
  • Technical development of project including responsibility for detailing and specifications.
  • Coordination and management of in-house team to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Direction on design and coordination of building systems and coordination of consultant team to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Primary point of contact and responsible for communication with client regarding the project in collaboration with the Project Manager/Associate.
  • Responsible for compliance with all building codes, DSA (and other agency) procedures, related forms, applications and processes.
  • Provides training and mentorship to team members to grow their skill set and increase their knowledge.
  • Architectural License required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of Architecture, minimum 3 years of experience with K-12 school projects.
  • Strong design skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and communicate compelling design solutions for complex projects.
  • Strong written, graphic and verbal communication skills and experience communicating with clients, government agencies and consultants.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, standards and experience working with governmental agencies.  Experience with agencies governing California K-12 schools preferred, especially the Division of the State Architect (DSA). 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sustainable design, construction materials, engineering disciplines and construction techniques.
  • Experience serving a leadership role in a collaborative team.
