CGL is the leading provider of justice facility planning, design, program management and maintenance solutions. We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Design Associate I in Baltimore, MD.

Position Summary

Reports to a Vice President or Senior Vice President. Performs discipline assignments under supervision and takes on more responsibility, working more independently on small projects or aspects of large projects.

Project Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Design Management
    1. Work Under the Direction of the Executive Design Manager, Design Lead, and Project Director
    2. Work with all firms and team members on the DCC team, including but not limited to: construction consulting firm, medical and behavioral health consulting firm and commissioning/engineering firm.
    3. Ensure DCC adheres to DCC Schedule of Activities and coordinates with A/E Design Schedule of Activities
    4. Review and recommend approval for DCC invoices
  2. Meetings Management
    1. Coordinate and attend all Architecture/Engineering (AE) design weekly meetings
      1. Develop and Publish Agenda and Meeting Notes
      2. Follow-Up on outstanding issues
    2. Coordinate and attend Specialty Design Meetings requested by the AE Team
      1. Follow-Up on outstanding issues required by the DCC and/or client
    3. Attend Meetings with DPSCS User Group Meetings
      1. Prepare Meeting Notes of User Group Meetings
    4. Attend Value Engineering Meetings
      1. Follow-up on outstanding items from DCC and/or User Group Members
    5. Design Review Management
      1. Coordinate the Review of Design Documentation at milestones from all DCC Team Members
      2. Assemble and organize comments from DCC team members
      3. Prepare Design Compliance Review Comments
      4. Attend all design review meetings
        1. Publish Meeting notes
        2. Follow-Up on outstanding issues as it relates to Design Reviews
      5. Monitor the DCC Management of RFI and QA/QC processes

  • Ability to independently prepare for client meetings w guidance.
  • Ability to manage client contact.
  • Ability to manage budgeted dollars, time, and scope for aspects/tasks on a project.
  • Knowledgeable of principles of personnel management, training and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledgeable of the principles of project budgeting and project management.
  • Knowledgeable of industry terminology, laws, practices, principles and regulations.
  • Building an understanding of the contracting process with client, associate partners and consultants, under the supervision of Director and/or ROL.
  • Demonstrated interest in speaking at conferences, writing articles, participating in national committees.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

PLANNING:

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply mathematic techniques in practical situations.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of planning principles and understanding of government policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of research methods and statistical principles.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of recent developments, current literature and sources of information related to criminal justice.
  • Ability to run and manage small to moderate size planning projects independently.
