Marsollier Villacorta LLC designs spaces and objects that are materially rich and finely detailed for fabrication and construction. We work with local materials and fabricators to create unique and context-specific designs with an eye to restoration and reducing the environmental impact. Recent projects include Aesop stores and environments, Merito in Lima, Peru, and Otonali in Saint-Malo, France.

We are looking for a Mid-Level Designer to join our studio. This mid-level position is for a person of 2-4 years of experience and is an opportunity to be actively involved with design, managing projects, and producing drawing sets.

The Mid-Level Designer takes direction from and is supervised by the Partners, senior designers, and Studio Director, but also has a significant amount of independence and therefore requires self-motivation and organization. The Mid-Level Designer may occasionally direct junior designers and oversee their work on small-scale projects or discrete tasks.

In general, it is expected that the Mid-Level Designer will:

  • Have mastery of AutoCAD, Rhino, Vray/Maxwell/other rendering software, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

  • Conduct all correspondence, internal and external, with professionalism and courtesy.

  • Correspond with vendors, consultants, and clients.

  • Have an attention to detail and be meticulous about externally-presented materials.

  • Display a strong design aesthetic and be capable of representing their design intent.

On a day-to-day basis, the Mid-Level Designer will:

  • Conduct independent research on materials, inspiration images, and site conditions/context.

  • Provide a multitude of design ideas/concepts based on the Partners’ design direction.

  • Illustrate their own design concepts via sketch, collage, plans, renderings, and 3D models.

  • Contribute to/offer feedback during internal design reviews on their own designs and those of other team members.

  • Draft architectural drawings from the conceptual to the construction levels of detail.

  • Produce renderings for client presentations.

  • Prepare client presentations.

  • Assist with ordering material samples from vendors.

  • Assist with furniture selection and procurement.

  • Support senior personnel with construction administration, such as being the lead contact for specific elements of the construction process, such as millwork, stonework, etc.

This is a full-time position. We will consider both NYC-based and remote applicants, and we encourage a diversity of applicants.
