CIVIC is currently seeking an ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER/PLANNER to join our team. Working under the guidance of Principal Manuel Cordero, our ideal candidate is an emerging architectural designer with strong drafting and graphic design skills. Experience with facilitation of community conversations is a plus. This person will be responsible for research, analysis and visualization of data, production of design documents, and graphic design of presentations and documentation.

CIVIC is a multidisciplinary design studio working to reimagine our public places and shared spaces to be healthier, safer, more accessible, and joyful.

Through design, urban planning, education, and community engagement, we collaborate with communities to design solutions to the challenges our cities will face in the 21st century. CIVIC works with schools and districts to plan and design educational facilities that encourage innovative approaches to teaching, inspire learners, and support students to develop essential skills. We also facilitate the design of urban-scale projects, with a particular focus on authentic and inclusive community engagement.

CIVIC’s design process is governed by a core set of beliefs:

Community: Collective public spaces serve a diverse range of people with different needs and experiences. We must design these shared environments together and elevate the voices too often left out of the decision making.

Collaboration: Good things happen when we work together. Collaboration is a key element of CIVIC’s process and we are constantly designing and improving participatory practices.

Craft: Our process is about the experience of designing our world together. Each step of the way is crafted to be as inspiring and impactful as the final product.
