An Architectural Designer II/Architect II (ADII/AII) is responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs. The ADII/AII provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects; independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs; and carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Exposure to all phases of the design process is required. The ADII/AII may also provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff.

Core Responsibilities
Project Design and Planning
Understand the MA “Project Road Map” as well as project schedule and pertinent deadlines
Participate in project design and development from concept through documentation
Assist in the preparation of client design presentations (selecting conceptual images, generating 3D views, rendered elevations, material, selections). Able to put together client presentation template based on the meeting agenda
Prepare design presentation documents, renderings, and materials as directed
Understand project scope and required deliverables
Implement design direction based on leadership feedback
Project Administration
Team Meetings
Help to identify agenda items for meetings
Distribute meeting invites
Draft meeting minutes for PA/PM review
Internal Management
Provides guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed
Manage BIM coordination for consultants
Consultant Management
Coordinate activities with all consultants as appropriate
Manage BIM coordination for consultants
Contractor Management
Be the secondary point of contact for RFIs, submittals, and correspondence
Project Documentation
Support the production of Design Development and Construction Document sets
Attend client meetings with PM/PA and other team members where appropriate and prepare meeting minutes
Organize and track project correspondence and communications
Prepare drawings, schedules, and specifications as directed
Incorporate changes and updates to the project documentation
Develop new or identify existing details to be utilized for project
Assist in development of project specific construction details
Review consultant sets and coordinate prior to the release of drawings for each phase
Quality Control
Comply with MA Presentation Standards and Project Checklists
Have a working knowledge of building code and accessibility requirements
Implement BIM execution and coordination as directed
Archive project emails and maintain standard server file organization
Self-check own work
Construction Administration
Assist project team with CA as directed
Aid with review of shop drawings and approvals
Attend site meetings as directed
Attend regular or weekly progress review with SD/PM
Assist with Field Reports and Punch Lists
Review RFIs and Submittals as directed
Maintain proper RFI Logs and Submittal Logs
Prepare record documents at conclusion of services
