QUARRA STONE COMPANY, a world-renowned natural stone fabricator located in Madison, WI is currently recruiting for the position of SR DESIGN ASSOCIATE.

Our clients come from various sectors. We are known for our craftsmanship and ability to execute intricate pieces. We have worked on famous landmarks and have pieces in some of the most important museums in the world. Our team consists of people from various trades applying their knowledge to one goal: deliver the best stone products in the market.

Under the supervision of the department supervisor, the candidate will perform daily tasks of reviewing architectural drawings, prepare shop drawings and shop tickets, work with Project Manager and Plant manager to resolve production issues. The design associate is also responsible to work in collaboration with our client to ensure timely completion of drafting needs. Some travelling to job sites may be require on occasion.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Autocad – strong proficiency
  Rhino – moderate proficiency
• Ability to independently create shop drawings and production tickets for large scale architectural cladding projects of up to 20,000 sq. feet.
• Ability to clearly articulate production details to factory floor staff via drawings, tickets, 3D models or templates.
• With minimal supervision, should be able to produce tickets for historic restoration / art projects
• Able to review work from other members of the department, and provide guidance for how to improve drawings
• Able to identify potential issues with architectural plans, and able to communicate to the client why those details will not work as drawn, as well as options for how to resolve those details successfully
• Ability to review own work for mistakes, errors and omissions to ensure quality, as well as, reviewing team member’s work for the same issues
• Qualification areas where the employee has not established full competency are expected to be strengthened on an ongoing basis during employment

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Industrial Design, Engineering or related filed.

Regular work week is for 40 hrs. Overtime is allowed and welcomed. Company offers health insurance, paid vacation and other benefits.
