M. Designs Architects is an award-winning architectural firm, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Our portfolio includes sustainable custom homes, spec homes, multi-unit residence and small to mid-size commercial projects.
We are looking for a Job Captain that would represent the firm to the client and will provide assistance to the Principals and other designers and architects in the firm. The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Assist the Principal Architects in keeping the team organized by planning and directing various phases of the project
Ensure compliance of construction documents and details to meet code and best practices.
Review accuracy of calculations, square footages, building code, zoning, and city ordinance compliance, plans and completed reports
Assist in multiple aspects of client, project coordination, and general contractors including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
Provide coordination of design development and construction documents on multiple projects
Coordinate with the project team including architects, drafters, and consultants to meet scheduled deliverables
Supervise the technical work of production staff and review their drawings
Develop project design budgets and schedules
Be the project coordinator for clients for construction administration support
Skill sets required:
Excellent written and verbal communication
Knowledge in production and detailing of construction document
Proficiency in Revit with 5+ years of experience a must
Experience in AutoCAD, Sketchup, MS Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel),
10+ years of experience within an Architectural or Design firm as a Project Architect or Job Captain
4-5 year professional college degree in Architecture highly preferred
Ability to direct, mentor, and coordinate work efforts of project team
Comfortable in support role and possess ability to work with minimum supervision.
Experience in project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
Knowledge of California building codes, standards and building structure
