Position Overview

The Architectural Project Manager works under the direction of the Principal Architect managing the production of working drawings for all construction and project types.

Functions of Position

Oversee project schedules and team staffing through weekly staff meetings for priorities and manpower needs, provide design services to Principal Architect and design when required. Leads the Team in providing initial project pricing sets and design backgrounds to kick off the construction documents for each project for consistency. Establishes a work plan and cartoon set for each project during the design phase. Leads the team during the entitlement phase including site planning, Design review and similar approval packages. Solves Code and jurisdictional comments and issues on projects, help PA’s coordinate outside consultants and monitor progress. Establishes the CA process and provides backup and support to PA in construction administration tasks, help support PA in production of construction documents and provide team help as needed through schedule management. Provide QA/QC for each project at each stage. Attend and participate in all internal and off-site meetings with coworkers, consultants and clients.  Manage project workflow and process on all projects for each team. Regular interaction and collaboration with coworkers, supervisors, consultants and clients. Working cohesively in a team environment as well as working independently. Collaboration with estimating and construction on project details, bidding concerns, and overall document coordination and clarity.  Assistance with projects as a TEAM including helping with targeted deadlines, group goals, and global firm improvements. Works to maintain office standards and document control.


Required Attributes

MOST important is TEAM spirit!  Ability to multi-task; can work within a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated, organized, communicates clearly. Competently managing with high attention to detail of projects and personnel to effectively deliver projects and meet deadlines as scheduled. A high level of knowledge of Auto CAD, REVIT, Excel and Word. Understanding of local zoning, building codes and systems, energy codes, ADA requirements, construction documents, construction administration and related procedures. Following the Principal, the Project Manager is the main point of contact on all projects. Able to review complete set of construction documents and identify drawing and design issues and provide resolutions to resolve and effectively coordinate with the entire team and jurisdiction to provide approvals for permits to construction. Helps maintain the project process and communications with adjoining departments. Good communication skills to be able to effectively communicate with clients, construction, estimating, jurisdictions, consultants, etc.



Project Manager will report to the Principal for each project.  Runs weekly team meetings as well as weekly updates on project status and weekly priorities for the production of projects are required.



An annual review by the Principal, peers, and related company staff will be used as part of the evaluation. The above functions of the position will be used as a basis of the evaluation, delivery of projects on time, issues with plans, and the interaction of the individual with the TEAM and company as a whole. Evidence of how you demonstrate company values. Lastly, each person’s individual goals will be discussed and how the firm and the job tasks throughout the year can assist in those goals.
