SunPower is seeking a bright, self-motivated individual to join our Commercial & Industrial Solutions Team as a Solar Carport Project Design Manager. Across the country and the world, business leaders and property owners are working together with SunPower to convert open parking areas into small-scale power plants. These simple utilitarian structures generate clean electricity and provide covered, shaded parking. In recent years SunPower has partnered with everyone from small businesses to Apple and Google, community colleges and major universities, abandoned brownfields, and National Parks to create these incredible projects.  Candidates should have an architecture or engineering degree and 3-10 years of related work experience.  A strong preference is for candidates with previous solar or renewable energy experience, but anyone with a proven track record of strong graphic communication skills and the ability to learn and adapt to changing conditions will be considered.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • In coordination with SunPower’s Structural engineers, Project Design Manager will facilitate project development from sales award through construction completion, working in collaboration with other internal managers
  • Produce design deliverables in Revit
  • Review structural steel shop drawings
  • Provide support during the construction phase, including generating and answering RFIs
  • Actively participate in recurring staff and stakeholder meetings and training


  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture/engineering or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD. Revit experience in a design/engineering environment required
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal and graphic
  • Skilled in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common office software
  • Process-oriented and strong organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors


  • The candidate must be legally able to work in the US
  • Candidate to work out of SunPower’s Boston Office located on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing
  • Remote work will be considered as well
  • Some travel may be required
