This position will be responsible for providing technical leadership and documentation coordination, including development of design drawings, technical documentation, and leading project team assignments.

As a Project Architect, you will:

  • Coordinate with designers, project managers, and other team members to assist in the development of our projects, according to firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.
  • Understand and have experience in the application of planning, programming, and design principles and methods, specifically for laboratories, technology, or higher education research/ STEM.
  • Coordinate the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Understand and coordinate engineering systems relevant to projects.
  • Review shop drawings, material samples, and construction documents for conformance with design.
  • Perform construction administration duties (RFI’s, RFP’s, change orders, etc.).
  • Prepare reports and specifications; review completed reports, plans, cost estimates, and calculations.
  • Generate construction plans and details, delivering complete, accurate, and coordinated project documentation.
  • Assure execution of and assist with quality control activities for all architectural elements.
  • Conduct and document field observations to monitor progress of construction
  • Ensures tasks are completed according to the Perkins&Will standards.
  • Direct production of construction documents, drawings, and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Maintain contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases.
  • May participate in marketing, client, and owner presentations.
  • Support growth of junior staff.

To join us, you should have:

  • A professional degree in architecture or related discipline.
  • 7-10+ years of experience.
  • Comfortable with project design, construction documentation, production, and construction materials.
  • Experience in building codes, specifications, building, and engineering systems.
  • Understanding of project management process and can apply project management software skills.
  • Basic Revit knowledge.
  • Experience reviewing construction documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative and professional work ethic.
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure is required for this position.
