Overview

SE Group is seeking a Landscape Architect/Mountain Resort Designer to join one of our offices in Vermont, Colorado, or Utah. Our award-winning Landscape Architecture team is at the forefront of the planning and designing of outdoor recreation destinations. And now we are looking for someone with the leadership chops and design mastery to help manage and grow our portfolio, particularly in the mountain resort market. Your projects will include mountain resorts and hospitality projects – as well as state parks, campgrounds, and community spaces – in some of the most beautiful recreation destinations across the country.

If you’re passionate about mountain lifestyles, outdoor recreation, and getting people outside – and you have a demonstrated history of managing resort-style landscape architecture projects – we want to hear from you!

About SE Group

At SE Group, our work is grounded in the belief that outdoor recreational experiences are a powerful foundation for thriving communities. This belief is the driving force behind our passion for uncovering the unique potential of every place and space we serve.

SE Group has been the industry leader in the planning and design of mountain resorts since 1958. Over the years, our team has grown to include landscape architects, community planners, environmental analysts, and economic advisors that are pioneering how communities across the country think about recreation, tourism, and outdoor spaces. Whether it’s a multi-season mountain resort or a schoolyard playground, our clients trust us to lead them from first spark of inspiration to final phase of implementation.

With hubs in Utah, Colorado, and Vermont, we are lucky live in the heart of some of the amazing recreational communities we serve.  We all share a passion for getting outside (in its many diverse forms) and SE Group is committed to offering an exceptional employee experience that honors this, as well as one that promotes collaboration, mentorship, growth – and laughter!

Position Priorities

This position will focus on creating vibrant destinations through master planning, landscape architecture design, and project management of resort and recreation-based projects.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Lead development of master plan and site-specific design projects from concept development through implementation
  • Facilitate on-site project meetings, design charrettes, project presentations, and stakeholder engagements
  • Manage all aspects of multiple projects at one time, including budget preparation and oversight, quality and timeliness of deliverables, and client communication
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including client relationship management, lead generation, and project proposals
  • Engage in industry thought leadership through publication and panels/presentations

Applicants are required to be licensed and to have an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited Landscape Architecture program.  Candidates for this position are not required to meet a specific number of years of experience; what is most important is that you are able to demonstrate your experience serving resort or hospitality communities, your entrepreneurial spirit, and your design acumen.

Other required skills and experience include:

  • Excellent hand sketching skills and ability to communicate ideas graphically
  • Proven success managing teams (scope, fee, schedule staffing) on medium to large sized landscape architecture projects
  • Strong construction documentation and administration experience
  • Experience contributing to project proposals, marketing, or business development
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Revit, ArcGIS, and SketchUp
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience leading public presentations
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Interest in leading a team and mentoring junior staff
  • Understanding of the mountain resort industry

While we are operating primarily in a remote work environment, being able to meet, collaborate, and socialize in the same space is vital to our team dynamic. Candidates for this position can be based within reasonable driving distance of any of our three offices in Burlington, VT, Frisco, CO, or Salt Lake City, Utah.
