The School of Architecture and Design at the New York Institute of Technology invites outstanding candidates for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Architecture with expertise in Architectural Design, Computational Technologies, and Fabrication. This position will be based in our NYC and/or Long Island campuses and requires teaching, coordination, and curriculum development at the graduate and undergraduate levels in advanced and integrative architectural design studios as well as courses, seminars, and electives in this specialization.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a track record of scholarly achievements, creative activities, and professional practice with an agenda to advance computational design approaches engaging with critical and entrepreneurial perspectives crucial to the advancement of technology innovation.
Responsibilities
Candidate responsibilities for a successful academic path will include teaching, research, and service. Essential will be the contribution to the School’s curriculum development, studio sequences coordination, participation in program accreditation, student mentoring and advising, retention and recruitment initiatives, and activities serving the community, the SoAD, and the Institution.
Areas of emphasis include experience with complex architectural projects and the integration of building systems and assemblies, material explorations, and fabrication processes. It will be desirable to have candidates with skills and interest in one or more of these areas: robotics, programming language (Python), simulations, augmented reality, computational modeling, machine learning/machine vision, and/or artificial intelligence applied to architecture. Supporting our new Master of Science in Architecture, Computational Technologies (M.S.ACT), collegial collaborative efforts will be expected.
