Intermediate Architect/Designer

Gilchrist Architecture Co. is seeking an Intermediate Architect/Designer for a full-time position in its downtown Carlsbad, CA office. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated person to get in early at a young firm and hit the ground running. We specialize higher education and commercial projects. Qualified candidate must be a self-starter who is capable of handling multiple projects and can shift gears as needed to enable growth. This person will work directly with the firm's principal and be responsible for support roles in growing the business.

Candidates for these positions should have the following general qualifications:

• 4-6 years’ experience in higher education or commercial projects
• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Architecture, or equivalent experience
• Professional licensure or in progress a plus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit a must, including Sketchup and Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Additional proficiencies may include site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements.
• Strong design, presentation, and communication skills
• Professional appearance and work ethic
• Experience in all phases of design and construction document preparation, with strong attention to detail
• Strong experience with construction detailing and materials
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to prepare presentation materials, as well as maintaining a professional demeanor with team members, clients, and consultants
• Be a self-motivated and proactive with the ability to meet project timelines and take on new tasks
• Familiarity with California entitlement and permitting process
• Some travel involved.
