The Blue Truck Studio is a small but ambitious and growing architecture practice specializing in custom residential and small retail projects throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Housed amidst a vibrant artist community in the Mission/Potrero neighborhood of San Francisco, this award-winning studio approaches projects with both professional rigor and creative aspiration.
We are currently seeking a full-time (salaried) Project Architect/Manager to start work immediately. Our studio currently operates as a hybrid in-office/remote working configuration with regular team meetings in our studio. THE POSITION
As a vital part of a small team, the Project Architect/Manager position is equal parts creative and technical. Assuming a primary role in leading projects, the Project Architect/Manager has design responsibilities, a strong voice in our collaborative teams, and experience to manage other team members and the production of working drawings. Technical experience putting together a set of construction document and details is a must, but successful candidates need to also show skill in supporting clients. Previous experience managing the work of others is required, but the ability to manage time and project fees/schedules/deadlines is essential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Principal and Studio Director in all stages of design and construction including interaction with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies.
Lead and manage the assembly and production of drawing sets including those for entitlement, design development, and construction documents.
Coordination with design teams and consultants.
Perform contract administration and on-site construction-related work.
EXPERIENCE
Seven to ten years of experience working in an architecture office, but more importantly someone who has three to five years designing and managing high-end residential projects in California.
Licensed architect or on a path to licensure.
LEED AP or other green certification preferred.
Proficiency with ArchiCAD 22 (or higher) or other BIM software.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and Illustrator) and Microsoft Office applications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Confidence in all phases of a project, including Construction Administration
Familiarity with wood frame, Type V construction techniques and detailing.
Familiarity with the regulatory process, particularly in San Francisco.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Highly organized and detail oriented
Strong presentation skills, both graphically and verbally
Outstanding design talent and passionate conceptual thinker
Responsible and accountable for personal mistakes
Strong collaboration skills
Experience leading and coordinating the work of others
Strong drafting skills
Candidates must be local or ready to relocate to the Bay Area.
Candidates must be eligible to work full time in the United States.
