Gabellini Sheppard Associates, an internationally renowned Architecture and Interior Design firm, seeks a resourceful, energetic, and highly organized individual to lead our business development. 

The successful candidate is a multi-tasking, self-starter with the ability to work productively in a team setting as well as independently, and is comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, writing and compositional skills, and an eye for graphic design and layout.  The ideal candidate possesses a high degree of professionalism and strong inter-personal skills. Graphic Design a plus. High-end Architecture or Interior Design firm experience only.

 A focus of this position will be to continue to strengthen the breadth, profitability and work of the studio supporting the studio team by finding, maintaining, and creating new business from strategic research to initial encounter, contract negotiation and closings. The individual is expected to be well connected and to be capable of identifying, pursuing and winning job opportunities.

The responsibilities include:

  • Business Development Strategy.  Working with the Partners, Associates, and Business Director to develop long term strategic business development goals following typologies of interest and evaluating results.  Review of past efforts to create additional success and find new solutions to resolve obstacles. 
  • Proposal Requests & Contracts. Coordination of all incoming proposal requests including RFP summaries, fee projections, creation of accompanying visual collateral using standard company templates, creation of final contracts and contract negotiations in collaboration with the Partners, Associates, and Business Director.  Maintain templates for company summaries (including updates as required for staffing, expertise, etc…) as well as templates for proposals following active typologies.
  • Outreach & Clienteling  Create and maintain list of potential clients following alignment with senior team on typology and qualifications for clientele. Proactively engage prospects from this list via email introductions followed by in person and video conference networking, setting up introductory meetings with partners, and calendaring follow up.  Delivering weekly summaries of clienteling to the senior team for review and comment.
  • Marketing Collaboration.  Maintaining a quality relationship with the Marketing Coordinator providing oversight, guidance to ensure an alignment between business development and marketing initiatives. (ex: targeted outreach by the Business Development Manager is coordinated with social media content initiated by the Marketing Coordinator, etc.)  Ensuring visual collateral is cohesive between both disciplines and uses existing company approved design standards


  • Minimum of five years’ experience in business development for architectural and interior design firms, including writing, coordinating, and editing proposals and presentations
