Lahmon Architects is looking for an individual with strong design skills as well as an admirable and practical understanding of the multifamily housing typology in the City of Los Angeles. Must be experienced and driven to join our growing, award-winning architecture firm that is respected for our process as well as our product. We’re an architectural studio specializing in multi-family and mixed-use housing with extensive experience in publicly funded housing in the City of Los Angeles. Job Title: Senior Designer / Job Captain

Minimum 7 years of experience in Multi-family and Mixed Used Housing

Job Summary

Experienced individual who enjoys working in a collaborative culture and can coordinate a project with a studio team. An architectural professional who is as passionate about design as the challenges and concerns that come with designing a project. An architect who can lead and execute the timely and profitable completion of a project. Title to be determine based on individuals’ capabilities. Seeking individual that can at a minimum manage a project up to a level of Design Director.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead or learn to lead the design of a project
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Manage and track drawing deliverables to ensure the output maintains the design intent without sacrifice
  • Ability to collaborate and resolve multi-disciplinary consultant issues without compromising design
  • Knowledgeable about running site visits and coordinating/communicating well with on-site contractors/construction professionals
  • Ability to identify all project challenges and resolve them
  • Proficient understanding of building construction and all its basic components
  • Proficient understanding of zoning and building code for Multi-Family projects
  • Ability to lead and execute designs to meet client and office specifications
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent client relationships

Qualifications and Skills

  • Architectural Graduate with 7 or more years’ experience leading all scales of multi-family/ mixed use projects from Concept Design through Construction Documents and Construction Administration
  • Strong portfolio reflecting vision and an eye for detail
  • Strong graphic, organization, and communication skills
  • Preferably construction detailing abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within the project team
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Experience working with LA City
  • Experience in implementing zoning, planning, and building codes and standards
  • Familiar with CTCAC, LACDA, LAHCID funding requirements and application processes desired

Salary: Commensurate with experience and skill, position is full-time with benefits (health insurance 100% paid, dental and vision contributed, 401K matching and profit sharing). Candidates need to be currently legal to work within the United States and immediately available.
