Andrea Steele Architecture (ASA) is an award-winning New York City based architecture and design studio, whose work ranges from civic, cultural and institutional projects to single and multi-family residences, as well as small and large-scale urban interventions.

ASA’s current projects include a cultural heart for downtown Brooklyn comprised of new cinemas and film archive for the Brooklyn Academy of Music; a production studio for the Brooklyn Public Library; galleries for the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts; and performance venues for 651 Arts in Brooklyn; and a new office building and site plan for the Taxi Limousine Commission in Queens.

With each project, from private residences to civic complexes and large-scale master plans, the firm’s design approach is rooted in the idea of building a global community.

We are seeking a talented Senior Architect to join our studio. The candidate will work directly with Partners and Senior Staff. We are looking for a well-rounded candidate who can participate in all stages of design from concept to execution. The initial focus of the position will be execution of construction administration on one of our award-winning NYC projects. The Senior Architect will also work with our design teams to support the conceptualization of new projects.


  • Works closely with the design team and partners to develop design concepts and defend and support design through all stages of design and construction
  • Communicates regularly with consultants and team members to ensure documents are coordinated; identifies issues that affect design and propose solutions
  • Interface with client, ASA team members, and consultants
  • Attend on-site project meetings


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Architectural license in New York State is required
  • Knowledge of NYC Building Codes and approvals process
  • Hands-on proficiency with Revit is required
  • Strong Graphic and Computer skills including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhino
  • Effective written and verbal skills – ability to hand sketch is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively create presentations and communicate concepts to clients and team members using strong representation skills
  • Design ability that is critically thoughtful, conceptually based and process-oriented
  • Demonstrated Construction Administration experience
  • Ability to coordinate among multiple trades and disciplines
  • Technical intelligence regarding building systems
  • Ability to multitask and operate under deadline-driven schedules
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and precision
  • Ability to operate effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Collaborative yet self-directed, proactive and positive attitude

Salary is commensurate with experience.
