Job Summary

Locus Design Collaborative is a dynamic Architecture firm, focused on commercial interiors projects primarily in Fairfield (CT) and Westchester (NY) counties, with some work in New York City. We offer exposure to an array of job types including workplace, building repositioning, retail, and restaurant design. Because we are a boutique firm, there is the opportunity to be hands-on in all aspects of a project, which includes meeting clients, designing projects, working on construction documents, and project management. Candidates must have a can-do attitude, one who is willing to work both as a team player on larger projects and independently on smaller ones.

The current position is for a Junior Interior Designer with approximately 1-5 years of corporate workplace experience. We will favor applicants with personal qualities that fit with our friendly and collaborative office culture.

Responsibilities and Duties

Qualified candidates for this position are passionate about design and the details of each of their projects, with 1-5 years of experience. Portfolio will clearly show strong creative design, including a grasp of interior design concepts, presentation skills, construction documents, and 3D modeling software.

Responsibilities will include maintaining and organizing our materials library, scheduling vendor updates, design research, assisting designers with design presentations + drawings, ordering samples, providing 3D modeling, surveying, drafting in Revit and or AutoCAD, and miscellaneous administrative assistance as needed. Must be able to keep up with the evolving needs of the job and manage time efficiently.

This position fits a person who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, who values productivity and efficiency balanced with quality.

Qualified candidates should possess the following skills:

  • Must be flexible, self-starting and keep up with evolving requirements of the job
  • Very strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or Autocad is required
  • 3D modeling experience required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Powerpoint, and InDesign is beneficial.
  • Effective personal time management skills to meet project deadlines
  • Strong collaborative and detail-oriented work ethic
  • Formal education in architecture or interior design related field
  • Minimum 1 years of professional experience
  • A passion for design
