Heitler Houstoun Architects, a growing...and award-winning Manhattan based architecture and interiors firm, with a diverse portfolio of residential, retail and workplace projects is seeking a talented and motivated Intermediate Interior Designer with 4-7 years of professional, post graduate experience and a professional Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.

 Job description:

The ideal candidate for this position has worked for several years under the guidance of a talented Senior Interior Designer and is ready and able further develop HHA’s Interior Design department.  The candidate must be capable of coordinating closely with senior architectural designers and project managers while simultaneously demonstrating design leadership qualities. The ideal candidate is passionate, organized, and driven.

 Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate experience (and interest) in any of the following project types: 

  • Retail – Wellness, Beauty
  • Residential – Single-family + Multi-family
  • Commercial – Office, Academic
  • Hospitality – Restaurants and/or Hotel


  • Bring new ideas, materials, finishes and installations to initial concept design.
  • Develop design through all phases under the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Lead ID portion of design presentations, communicate vision and integration with architecture
  • Ideate, specify and deliver a high-quality design within a variety of project budgets.

Candidates should demonstrate the following skills: 

  • Work effectively in a highly creative and disciplined environment. -Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 
  • Interest in a high level of client satisfaction. Comfortable presenting and supporting ideas. -Ability to consistently meet project deadlines.
  • High level of organization, able to track specification requirements.
  • Knowledge of current design, product, and furniture trends and styles.
  • Knowledge of commercial grade product requirements.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and leverage consultant and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in space planning, curating color stories and furniture, fixture, finish and product specification, quoting.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, Photoshop, In-Design SketchUp and 3D rendering software such as V-ray.

HHA offers full-time employees an industry leading benefits package.  Compensation commensurate with experience and will be within the range of a 4-7 year position.
