The Opportunity:

Perkins Eastman - Stamford where employees are encouraged continuously to engage, to learn, and to contribute in a vibrant and supportive office culture, is in search of a Project Architect/Job Captain (Project Architect II).  This individual should have a passion for high-quality design and possess strong analytical problem-solving skills within their collaborative process. This position will provide an opportunity to work with integrated design teams primarily on Workplace, Corporate Interiors, Multifamily Residential Interiors. Desire and experience in K-12, Higher Education, Multifamily Residential, Hospitality, or Commercial/Mixed Use a plus. The individual selected must possess the ability to react positively to a variety of design priorities, styles and project delivery methods. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team with the Project Manager for the coordinated development and complete documentation of the project(s) for construction.
  • Responsible for leading/overseeing/assisting the team (including sub-consultants) in Master Planning, Site Planning and Building Design exercises utilizing, 3D Modeling, and Digital Presentation Packaging.
  • Prepare program and schematic proposals, review project layouts and designs in 3D using Revit or other 3D modeling software for client review/approval.
  • Ability to perform design computations, review specifications, compiles data, develop cartoon sets, red mark drawings and details.
  • Leads the design team (including sub-consultants) on projects from the Pre-Schematic Phase through Construction Documents.
  • Lead/Oversee/Assist the team with preparation of specifications, construction drawings, and construction detailing for the project.
  • Acquainted with building codes and reviews to assure that design complies or exceeds the minimum legal standards.
  • Participate in the construction administration phase by leading the team reviewing shop drawings and creating a master log of the project submittals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Architecture from an Accredited School.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant architectural experience.
  • Is able to encourage a collaborative work environment.
  • Is able to develop, communicate and present technical design concepts to their team.
  • Has strong organization, communication, technical and graphic skills.
  • Is able to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrated experience in and readiness to lead the technical details of projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Revit, Affinity Creative Suite, 3D Max, Sketch-up, and other related design software.
  • Is proficient with other data management software such as Bluebeam, Word and Excel.
  • Architectural license is required for the Project Architect designation – Job Captain is on path to licensure.
  • Has LEED accreditation or is willing to pursue its or equivalent in the next 6 months.
