The Opportunity:

Perkins Eastman - Stamford is searching for talented intermediate level designers (Architectural Designer II/Interior Designer II) who is ready to engage, learn, and contribute to a vibrant and active studio culture. This individual should have a passion for high-quality design and possess strong analytical problem-solving skills within their collaborative process. This position will provide an opportunity to work with integrated design teams primarily on Workplace and Corporate Interiors. Desire and experience in Multifamily Residential, K-12, Higher Education, Hospitality, and Commercial/Mixed Use interiors of various sizes and complexity a plus. The individual selected must possess the ability to react positively to a variety of design priorities, styles and project delivery methods. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead/assists a project team in development of the aesthetic design and the preparation of the interior design including drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborates with or serves as the Project Designer for the design of the project.
  • Develops a working process with the team that ensures that the design intent of a project is maintained for the duration of the project.
  • You are a facile and rapid space planner proficient in developing compelling workplace layouts of varying sizes from small office suites up to large corporate HQs.
  • Develops design documentation at all stages of the project from Test-fit plans, finishes & materials concepts, and selection of products.  May assist the team in the development of construction drawings, and construction detailing for the project to assure continuity of design intent.
  • Coordinates the work of design consultants.
  • Meets with client and may be asked to present design presentations
  • Supervises and mentors assigned staff.
  • Follows established standards for project production and review.
  • Keeps Project Manager, Project Architect, and Principal in Charge informed of progress or need for assistance
  • Assist the studio and leaders with generating Design Services Proposals.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage the design of multiple projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture/Design from an Accredited School.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience, 5 years of relevant space planning experience.
  • Is able to encourage a collaborative work environment.
  • Strong communication, graphic, organization, technical and written skills
  • Demonstrated experience in and readiness to lead the design of projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, Affinity Creative Suite Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design; 3D software such as Rhino and Sketchup.
  • Proficient with other data management software such as Bluebeam, Word and Excel.
  • Has Architectural license or NCIDQ qualification or is on path to licensure.
  • Has LEED accreditation or is willing to pursue its or equivalent in the next 6 months.
