KieranTimberlake is currently seeking a Business Strategy and Communications Director to join our team. Our design practice includes over 90 professionals with diverse backgrounds and is recognized worldwide as a sustainable design leader. The Business Strategy and Communications Director will work with the firm’s Partners to advance KieranTimberlake’s communications and business development goals. The Director will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the firm’s national and international reputation and achieving business development objectives. The Director will ensure strategy, cohesion, and consistency across all communication and business development efforts and will be responsible for opening opportunities for firm leaders to attract clients, grow the practice, and advance discourse.  The Director will lead a communications team of seven with expertise in graphic design, business development, and communications.  
Primary responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Lead the communications team in achieving firmwide messaging and business development goals
  • Lead the preparation of materials for proposals and interviews, the firm’s website, social media, and public-facing documents and presentations
  • Develop tactical calendar of opportunities for firm promotion including awards, media placement, public appearances, book publication, and exhibitions
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists in architecture, design, and culture
  • Vet and coordinate media interviews with firm leaders and reinforce messaging
  • Develop and write executive and internal communications as needed for the firm’s Partners
  • Monitor and report marketing and communications activities to firm leaders
  • Oversee special projects such as publications, conferences, and exhibitions
  • Oversee professional development of communications team members and perform annual reviews with firm leaders
  • Coordinate communications activities with external public relations consultant

Candidates will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role in the architecture field.  Candidates will have the desire and capacity to collaborate with our team of professionals across architecture, research, and communications to produce high quality content that promotes the firm and fits with the organizational culture and identity. 
Other qualifications include:

  • Proven track record and experience implementing marketing and client relationship projects and seeing them through successful completion 
  • Excellent writing skills, as well as strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of market and competition
  • Capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strategic approach to developing communications content
  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills and capacity to remain poised and professional under pressure
  • Gracious, diplomatic approach to delivering and receiving feedback
  • Experience with professional digital marketing management 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite

The position reports to the Partners of the firm. Salary is commensurate with professional experience, education level, and demonstrated knowledge.
