Jessica Schuster Design is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and meticulously organized full time Junior Residential Designer. We are currently in a growth phase and the position offers incredible exposure to all aspects of the business. The candidate needs to be extremely organized and a self-starter who is comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously. The Junior Designer will support senior designers, assisting in all phases in an extremely busy and fast paced high-end design firm. This will include attending client design meetings, corresponding with vendors and various trade workrooms, as well as support of research and development of all components of projects including design development, client presentations, initial pricing, ordering, installation and scheduling. They will be involved in high-end residential, as well as large scale commercial and hospitality projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather vendor quotes, generate and process proposals and orders, and general project administration

  • Maintain organized and current project files, including project directory, proposals, correspondence, materials, etc.

  • Maintain exceptional client and vendor relations

  • Expedite orders including approving CFAs, checking in fabric, shipping fabric to furniture vendors, approve custom prototypes/mock-ups, track the status of pending items, ensure items are fabricated/procured in a timely manner, and coordinate shipping and delivery of the items and ultimately installation of items

  • Pull samples, materials and finishes from library and showrooms for scheming

  • Preparation for client meetings including boards, samples, presentations and quotes

  • Attend off-site meetings with vendors and/or clients, including job sites

  •  Document projects through field measurements, photography and scanning

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Junior Designer  

  • Knowledge of Studio Designer, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Studio/Studio Webware, Microsoft Excel

  •  BA in Interior Design. Or a one year certificate from college or technical school.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, contractors, and vendors

  •   Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Knowledge of construction and furniture costs in order to design to established budgets.

  • Beginning knowledge of material and furniture sourcing, costs.


  • Salary: $40,000 – $60,000  Subject to experience

  • NYC Based- Full time in Office 

  • Experience: Architecture, Interior Design, Hospitality, Minimum: 2 years (Required)

  • Education: Bachelor's (Required) 

  • Work authorization: United States (Preferred)
