Vertebrae uses machines—digital and analog tools—to manifest universal architectural principles: harmony, rhythm, asymmetry, and balance. A Los Angeles-based practice versed in the history of Southern California’s rich technological and spatial experimentations, Vertebrae follows in the trajectory of the Light and Space art movement of the 1960s by using emergent materials and cutting-edge fabrication techniques to design environments that offer a dynamic play of light, volume, and scale.

We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Intermediate Designer to join our small team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and documentation assignments through all project phases including conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documentation
  • Construction administration and permitting


  • Minimum 4- or 5-year undergraduate degree in architecture or related design field
  • Experience in all phases of design (3 years)
  • Advanced understanding of architectural design and ability to produce effective construction documentation
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, collaborative approach to architecture
  • Outstanding graphic design skills
  • Proficiency in Revit (1+ years)
  • Advanced skills in other design software such as Rhino/Grasshopper are highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
