MONTALBA ARCHITECTS, INC., is a design-focused and high-service architectural practice based in Santa Monica, California with a European office in Lausanne, Switzerland. We work with a wide range of local and international projects and our body of work consists of private residences, hospitality, commercial and luxury retail projects. 

We are looking to add a SENIOR ASSOCIATE ARCHITECT to our Santa Monica office, as an integral part of our leadership team. To develop, design and deliver projects of large scale and complexity. This position requires experience, commitment, focus and a strong desire to cultivate great staff, work and projects to the highest level.


  • 15+ years professional practice in an Architectural office
  • Registered Architect in the United States
  • Completion of BArch and/or MArch Degree
  • Substantial construction experience in the United States
  • Experience in ALL phases of professional practice; with a focused strength in Construction Documents and Construction Administration delivery
  • Excellent coordination and awareness of various building systems and project complexity
  • Experience and strength in managing and leading complex AEC teams  
  • Ability to lead and inspire the internal project teams as a Senior Project Architect
  • Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
  • Strength in critical thinking and creative solutions
  • Enjoyment in a collaborative team environment
  • Interest in mentoring other staff as part of everyday interactions
  • Interest in participating in and shaping office-wide initiatives and culture
  • Passionate about crafting and realizing work to the highest level


  • Strong in technical detailing, building systems and documentation
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver comprehensive Construction Documents Sets (must include CD drawing samples in submission)
  • Responsibility for architectural drawing quality control
  • Working knowledge of building and zoning codes and the agency approval process in the United States
  • Managing complex project scope, schedule and budget
  • Ability to take on a leadership role on a construction effort
  • Thoughtfulness of efficiency and team resources
  • Experience in Autocad and/or Revit
