A Senior Interior Design Architect/Project Manager manages the Interior's scope for multiple small to medium sized projects concurrently or one large project through all project phases with moderate oversight by the Interiors Studio Director. They provide leadership to team members and oversee one to three individuals. With their team, they are responsible for generating the design of each project and meet with the Interiors Design Director for guidance.

This person possesses the technical and construction knowledge to carry a project through completion. They are the primary day to day contact for clients, consultants, the architecture team and successfully perform the required Interiors project management duties. They monitor quality control, project efficiency, profitability and fulfill deadliness.

Core Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Interiors Design Director on the overall design concept and carry forward the established design direction
  • Direct and lead the preparation of client design presentations. Assist the team in production when needed.
  • Conduct and lead client design presentations
  • Obtain client approval on design where required including FF&E selections. Review where signoffs are required with the Interiors Studio Director at the beginning of each phase.

Interior Documentation and Coordination

  • Manage and oversee construction documentation, ensure the project remains on schedule
  • Review design and drawings for compliance with building code and accessibility requirements.
  • Schedule QAQC reviews with Technical Director per MA standards
  • Review specifications related to Interiors for accuracy, work with specifications writer
  • Maintain high level of quality control. Review all drawing sets for accuracy and design intent before being issued.
  • Coordinate Interiors consultant items noted on the Internal Drawing Responsibility Matrix
  • Generate drawing list for design development and construction documents. Review with Interiors Studio Director and Architecture Project Manager before setting up sheets.

Interior Construction Administration

  • Participate in onsite OAC meetings.
  • Review submittals for compliance with design intent and maintain log.
  • Respond to RFI's and maintain log.
  • Conduct site observations and prepare field reports.
  • Prepare punch lists.

Interior Project Management

  • Manage the Interiors scope for multiple small to mid-size projects concurrently or one large project with the Architecture Project Manager
  • Establish strong relationships with clients
  • Acquire and maintain full insight on the project contract, budget, and Interior's scope Establish and maintain the Interiors project schedule (including deadlines, client, and consultant meetings)
  • Review contract deliverables and manage scope creep; alert Interior's Studio Director and Architecture PM of additional service prior to proceeding with change
  • Supervise team members, develop, and maintain interiors work plan for maximum efficiency. Review workplan with the Interiors Studio Director at the beginning of each phase and as required, update weekly.
  • Meet with Interiors team at the beginning of each week to review weekly and phase deliverables. Additional team meetings scheduled as required.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and maintain project schedule
  • Provide regular project updates to the Interiors Studio and Design Director
  • Generate agenda for client and coordination meetings. Send out in advance to allow attendees to prepare as needed.


  • Mentor and assist in growth of Designer I and II studio members
  • Model positive leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Participate in interviewing potential candidates


Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design. Other accreditations encouraged (NCIDQ, AIA, LEED)


8+ years of experience in residential, hospitality and office projects

Managed multiple small to medium projects through all phases with minimal oversight

Led teams of 2-3 individuals for 2 or more years


Creative portfolio with projects similar in size and scope to
MAAdvanced and creative design skills in various project
typologiesEffective team leader with strong interpersonal skills, a
collaborator, self-motivated, organized and possess strong
presentation skillsIntermediate knowledge of Construction Documents
and AdministrationKnowledge of building codes and accessibility
