Jessica Schuster design is seeking an Architectural Designer with experience in Hospitality Design. Our work environment is energetic, friendly, and supportive. The designer/architect will be expected to provide a visual representation of the concept and communicate the Principal Designer's objectives orally and visually. The designer will be responsible for producing drawings, and coordinating with the design team to take SD’s to CD’s and be expected to manage all project-related tasks, client meetings and contractor coordination working directly with the Principal Designer and Project Design Director, collaborating with fellow studio members, clients, consultants, and artisans. You will work from our offices in New York City but may be asked to travel for occasional site visits.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, can undertake Project Architect responsibilities, and is looking for an exciting opportunity for career growth.  We are seeking someone who is comfortable with demanding deadlines, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities include participating in all phases of the Design process such as:

  • Work with Principal, Senior Designer or Senior Design Manager on conceptual designs, presentations and production.

  • Oversee collection of project data and research; perform moderately complex to advanced code specific calculations.

  • Knowledge of design process and building codes.  Assist with management of the design process and oversight of junior designers.

  • Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, physical models and presentation drawings as the project requires.

  • Resolve design issues with creative and practical solutions; prepare complete designs from general drawings and instructions.

  • Ability to independently coordinate consultants, fabricators, vendors and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.  Report progress to Senior Designer / Senior Design Manager.

  • Perform architectural drafting as directed by Senior Designer in accordance with company standards.

  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives and programs.

  • Possess the ability to create complete drawing sets 

  • Oversee project document production to accurately represent the project to the client, approving agency, and contractor in sufficient detail to facilitate construction of the project.

  • Perform all Construction Administration tasks including answering RFI’s, reviewing submittals, and coordinating responses with consultants.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS: 

  •  5+ years of experience on architecture projects with experience in Hospitality 

  • Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to problem solve both individually and as part of a project team.

  • Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, including Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Sketchup, Photoshop, Rhino, and InDesign. 

  • Solid understanding of materials and construction techniques.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple or fast paced projects.

  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Holds all legal permits and visas required to work in USA

  • Must be able to handle multiple concurrent projects and/or deadlines.
