Jessica Schuster design is seeking a Junior Interior Designer with experience in Hospitality Design. Our work environment is energetic, friendly, and supportive. The designer/architect will be expected to provide a visual representation of the concept and communicate the Principal Designer's objectives orally and visually. The designer will be responsible for producing drawings, and coordinating with the design team to take SD’s to CD’s and be expected to manage all project-related tasks, client meetings and contractor coordination working directly with the Principal Designer and Project Design Director, collaborating with fellow studio members, clients, consultants, and artisans. You will work from our offices in New York City but may be asked to travel for occasional site visits. The chosen candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, a great communicator and have a desire to grow with the company as a key member of our team.

Responsibilities include participating in all phases of the Design process such as:

  • Responsible for the design development and realization of the project, as assigned.

  • Coordination of projects and project management.

  • Work with SketchUp and Autocad to construct documentation. scope, schedule, budget, staffing needs, and project milestones

  • Efficiency in Architectural and Millwork Detailing.

  • FFE research and specifications: selection, custom furniture design and documentation, finish boards and/or boxes & FFE binders

  • Attend client presentations and coordination meetings

  • Must be able to handle multiple concurrent projects and/or deadlines.

  • Demonstrate creativity and design sophistication, be comfortable developing design and construction documents in Autocad and the ability to translate those concepts in various software platforms. 

  • This position is for a wide variety of medium to large size Hospitality projects that are fast paced with long schedules. 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 

  • Work directly with Principal designer, Clients and or all Team Members on projects from Initial Design Concept through Completion.

  • Excellent Opportunity for a wide variety of hands-on Hospitality Design experiences.


  • Minimum of 3 yrs experience as Architectural Interior Design Assistant or similar position but will consider other experiences.

  • Architecture or Interior Design degree, accredited 4yr+ program

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, V-Ray, Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office are required. 

  • Knowledge and ability of Lighting Design, Graphic Design, and Photography are all desirable as well as 3D modeling programs such as revit, or rhino.

  • Knowledge in PPEC Programs: Design Specs, Spexx, Spec Sources. 

  • Good organizational and communicative skills are necessary, along with Fluency in verbal and written English.
