SILLMAN is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Designer for our Architectural Practice.

This position is Full Time, and the successful candidate should have experience in similar positions in an Architectural Firm.

Candidates should have Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills; Fluent English is essential.

SILLMAN is an award-winning architectural design firm. Founded in 1976, Sillman Wright Architects offer Planning, Architecture, Interior Design and Sustainable Design Services to diverse clients. Sillman Wright Architects are a medium sized firm (35 people) that is growing. We have a great group of designers who work well together and are committed to creating innovative quality architecture that is efficient, sustainable and reflects the values of the community and our clients.

We are centrally located in Mission Valley, however we are currently working remotely. We offer a hybrid work situation (work from home and/or office).


Full-time architectural associate on the path to licensure with two to three years of experience, works from the designs of others under supervision, and performs routine and limited architectural assignments.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:    Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture

Experience:  2-3 Years of experience in architecture, DSA Experience is a plus, Design-Build Experience is a plus, Revit Experience is Required

Job Specific Qualifications

  1. Ability to correspond effectively with consultants for cad files and minor directives
  2. Ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing
  3. Set goals, prioritize, and plan work activities for self-management and use time efficiently
  4. Demonstrate motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges
  5. Finish tasks within the agreed-upon hours for the task
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in some applications and multimedia software (Lumion, Excel, Word, InDesign, Microsoft Project, Photoshop)
  7. Understand the organization of the contract documents
  8. Demonstrate CAD/Revit competency of basic commands/drawings setup/layering/dimensions/plotting on SWA CAD/Revit Platform
  9. Ability to apply accessibility code to basic drawings
  10. Basic knowledge of applicable building code and applications
  11. Willingness and hunger for expansion of knowledge (LEED/Sustainable Certification, licensure, etc.)
  12. Professional attitude and appearance

Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs specific/limited portions of assignments using prescribed methods.
  2. Under general supervision, works from the design of others and performs routine architectural assignments.
  3. Assists in the design and development of projects
  4. Produces design presentation material
  5. Assists in the production and documentation of construction documents
  6. Assist in organization and generation of working drawings
  7. Assignments may include higher-level work for training/development purposes.
  8. Prepare basic “block out” drawings with accuracy and thoroughness (site plans floor plans, exterior elevations, interior elevations) from design sketches, and pick up “red marks” prepared by supervisor

Software Experience

Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, InDesign, Projects, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
