Islyn Studio is seeking an INTERMEDIATE INTERIOR DESIGNER who is confident, collaborative and exceptionally detail-oriented.  Applicants should have a minimum of (3) years experience in hospitality or luxury retail design, including completion of at least (1) project from Concept through Construction Administration.  Their skill set should include hand sketching, conceptual strategy, drafting CDs and custom furniture in AutoCAD, shop drawing review and site styling.  This Intermediate Designer should demonstrate the flexibility to jump in anywhere on a project, to lead portions of a project and provide support to fellow team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of post-graduate industry experience in hospitality and/or luxury retail design

  • 4-year Interior Design or Architecture degree from an accredited institution

  • Executed at least 1 project from start to finish

  • Experience working across all project phases, Concept through Construction Administration

  • No “FFE-only” or “Residential-only” design background, should have a range of experience

  • Ability to draft DD-level / CD-level drawings

  • High AutoCAD aptitude is required, Revit experience is a plus

  • Ability to express ideas through hand sketches and 3D modeling

  • SketchUp or Rhino proficiency is required

  • Excited by materials, knowledgeable about what’s new and next

  • Passionate about FF&E, experienced sourcing new “off the shelf” and vintage

  • Specification writing in Spexx, Specsources, Fohlio or similar

  • Able to draw and detail custom FF&E and millwork

  • Considers themselves a student of design, interested in honing their craft

  • Clear internal and external communicator

  • Highly collaborative and ready to lead portions of a project

  • Possessing of a positive attitude, voracious tenacity and a collaborative spirit

  • Desire to be a long-term hire, member of the Islyn team, grow with our Studio

  • Located in Metro NYC area, able to attend office hours and local site visits
