Workbench is a Concept to Completion, design build studio in Santa Cruz, California. We are seeking a talented, dynamic, intelligent, hard working Junior Architects to join our quickly growing company. Our projects range from small infill accessory dwelling units to commercial tenant improvements to multi-family residential work and everything in between. We are a great team of Architects and Builders that strive to create beautiful projects for our Clients and ourselves. Workbench is unique in that we own and develop our own projects, as well as projects for Clients.

We are looking for an Architectural Job Captain that has a multi-family background, as these are a bulk of our workload. Large commercial projects are also a plus. Under the direction of the Studio Director and Architectural Design team, you will be responsible for creating architectural plans for residential, commercial and multi-family projects including project design, maintaining and creating design templates and standards.

This position is client and partner facing. This means that you will need to have strong communication skills and comfortability communicating with clients, subcontractors, city and other officials. Additionally, skills in presenting project ideas will be needed in order to communicate about projects effectively inside and outside of the organization.

Day to Day Job
- Assisting Lead Architects in developing construction document sets
- Engage with Clients, Consultants and City/County officials to help coordinate projects
- Collaborate in studio-wide design charrettes
- Aiding in building software tools and standards when needed
- Helping to build a product library
- Development of marketing materials as needed

Skills Required
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office

- Working knowledge of California building codes, as well as all State, County, and City ordinances relating to the construction of residential and commercial buildings

- Working knowledge of all zoning, fire, plumbing, electrical, structural, etc. codes and requirements relating to architectural design

- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication
- Professionalism
- Ability to be a team player
- Previous work experience is a plus, especially multi-family and a good interior design aesthetic
