Technical Director

We are seeking a Technical Director. The successful applicant will be a self-motivated and creative problem-solver, exhibiting strong management and design skills.  Candidates should be fluent in building technology, documentation, and delivery and be passionate about design and architecture.   

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Principals, responsible for firmwide delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality;
  • Provide Technical and Quality Control Review of Documentation at multiple times for all projects;
  • Develop, Implement and Oversee Firmwide QA/QC program;
  • Contribute to and organize standard details, specification standards and documentation preferences;
  • Actively support firmwide sustainability goals;
  • Provide holistic review of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks;
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues with teams to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions;
  • Coordinate with project teams, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants for a variety of projects;
  • Coordinate with BIM initiatives to develop firm libraries for details, systems, and assemblies;
  • Contribute to the maintenance and oversight of the project manual and specifications;
  • Conduct occasional on-site observations and document site reviews;
  • Guide processing of submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIs;
  • Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Principals;
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programs;
  • Participate in professional knowledge sharing through conferences, seminars, and articles; and
  • Lead initiatives and activities that strengthen our culture, knowledge base, and capabilities.


  • A professional degree in architecture;
  • Professional Licensure; LEED AP preferred;
  • 10 or more years professional experience;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
  • Experience in the preparation of drawing sets;
  • Familiarity with Revit;
  • Willingness to teach and learn with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity;
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures;
  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development; and
  • Ability to maintain client and industry relationships and build new client relationships through successful project delivery
