Living Roofs Inc is growing and hiring a Project Designer to help with various drafting, graphic production, and administrative tasks. This position is ideal for a professional who thrives working on a diverse range of tasks ranging from pre-construction drawings and details, plant sourcing and scheduling, and production of presentation graphics. An ideal candidate for this position must be willing to adjust to a dynamic schedule that requires excellent organizational and communication skills. For example, some weeks might be filled with design work, while others are full of plant orders and administrative tasks to support our team during construction. There is an option for this position to begin as part-time for 25-30 hours/week with an opportunity to grow into a full-time position.

  • Developing conceptual designs from initial client communication and creating formal presentations and necessary documents for construction
  • Drafting details and shop drawings/submittals
  • Developing green roof planting plans and plant schedules
  • Translating planting plans and schedules into plant distribution plans to assist the crew with installation
  • Sourcing and managing plant orders and installation schedules
  • Conducting site analysis and research for projects
  • Communicating and coordinating with project architects and landscape architects
  • Rendering design drawings in plan, section, elevation, and perspectives
  • Standardizing existing CAD details 


  • Recent experience working in an architecture, graphic or landscape design office
  • Strong drafting and rendering skills
  • Knowledge of plants
  • Excellent AutoCAD, Adobe Suite skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and SketchUp
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently AND in a team-oriented atmosphere
  • A demonstrated capacity to handle a range of responsibilities and tasks
  • An eye for design and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for green roofs and green infrastructure
  • Ability to problem solve and quickly pivot due to changing project schedules and demands
