We are searching for an Architectural Job Captain for our Withee Malcolm - A BSB Design Studio, located in Torrance, CA.  The ideal candidate will have experience in high-density residential urban infill projects with dedicated work ethic, upbeat and positive outlook, and a personal commitment to quality.

We are looking for skilled individuals to coordinate and lead the architectural drafting team on project development. You will assist our Project Managers with project administration from schematic design through construction documents phase.


  • Supervise, coordinate and lead the production team on a project in developing the construction documents.
  • Oversee 2-4 architectural staff
  • Strong technical background and experience putting together a project.
  • Assist the project manager in developing project documents.
  • Administer complex multifamily residential projects.
  • Detail all components of a building.
  • Provide support for any tasks required for the successful completion of the project.
  • Coordinate with outside consultants and other team members. Review consultants work to ensure compliance with code and project requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of the plans.
  • Verify that the project work is done efficiently and in accordance with established office standards.
  • Review all drawings prior to plan check submittal, bidding and construction.

Skills and Qualifications :

  • AutoCAD and/or Revit proficiency required; 3-D modeling programs desirable- include excel, Microsoft word, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Code Knowledge
  • Experienced in Construction Observation
  • Proven skill to follow up with staff, consultants, and client
  • Standard technical knowledge for construction documentation
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong leadership skills and effective communication, both orally and in writing
  • Positive "can do" attitude
  • Some travel may be necessary
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 2 or more years of experience as a Job Captain in an architectural firm through all phases of a project; or 5 or more years of residential multifamily architectural experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of a complete set of production plans from design development through construction documents and plan check.
