PH is seeking a full time, design oriented, Architectural Associate for residential/multi-family, hospitality, Retail and  Master Planning projects.

Candidate will report to senior designers and interpret sketches; BIM preparation of plans, elevations and sections to create BIM models and renderings of large scale residential and mixed use buildings. Candidate will work as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic and fast paced environment and should be able to produce high quality images used for in-house studies, client presentations, and client marketing materials.

Candidate must be highly motivated, communicate clearly, and demonstrate creativity to provide architectural design input on various projects as they evolve.

It is preferred that the candidate possesses 3 - 4 years of Architectural experience.

Assist with preliminary feasibility studies and schematic design work:

  • Work under the collaborative direction of Project Architect, Project Manager, and Senior Designer to assist in the development of design concepts that respond to objectives
  • Develop a project's program into alternative conceptual design proposals. Participate and contribute to design discussions, idea generation, and design work. This may include the preparation of sketches, drawings, and 3D software models of proposed designs
  • Presentation preparation and organization, including the development of renderings, colored elevations, and supplemental design exhibits
  • Assisting senior staff in color and materials board preparations and other requirements of the entitlement process
  • Maintaining graphic and branding standards in design content
  • Attend client meetings to observe the overall process and develop presentation skills

Assist with the development and preparation of Design Development and Construction Documents:

  • Work closely with team members and assist to complete projects on often aggressive schedules by meeting deadlines within expected time and budget constraints
  • Research building codes, product information, and existing drawings
  • Involved in coordination for internal team members and consultants
  • Maintain appropriate communication with coworkers, contractors, and clients via phone/e-mail
  • Generate revisions and corrections from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings and project document sets
  • Verify all work through Project Manager/Principal and applicable QA/QC processes before work is issued to Client

Assist with Bidding and Construction Administration:

  • Participate in construction site visits and OAC meetings to better understand the construction process
  • Recognize and document conflicts that arise during construction and offer alternatives to resolve these issues
  • Attend meetings for the following pre-bid, progress and project close-out

Supplemental responsibilities and opportunities:

  • Maintaining and updating the materials library
  • Participation in office initiatives, including lunch and learns, design conversations, and office forums

Job Requirements:

  • Professional degree (Masters or BA) in Architecture from an accredited program
  • 3 - 4 years of relevant professional experience in medium to large-scale residential, commercial, retail and/or mixed-use project types
  • Advanced BIM skills (minimum 1 year professional experience)

Job Requirements Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience working on a Mac platform
  • Proficiency and work experience using ArchiCad (BIM)
