About Skipp

With 80% of housing stock now older than 20 years old and a growing affordability crisis, younger homeowners are renovating at an unprecedented pace. However, the renovation process hasn’t changed in 40 years. Despite this being a 400B market, the industry has remained a fully analog, messy and chaotic endeavor. Skipp is changing that.

With Skipp, homeowners will be able to develop designs for their exact space in a way one might build and customize a car online. They will be able to access world class designs, source materials, and get precise construction plans and get multiple labor bids without ever having to leave the sofa.

The Skipp team is comprised of world-class architects, designers, and technologists to not only make the process of transforming a home easier and affordable but also fun and inspiring. We are an early-stage, VC-backed startup and with the core technology now operational we are expanding quickly.

If you’re curious about seeing what AI can do for the everyday homeowner, and want to be part of a cutting edge approach to an antiquated industry you know what to do!

The Role

Skipp is seeking a trained interior designer with 3+ years of professional experience. Vast knowledge of all things kitchen and bathroom design preferred, including appliances, lighting and plumbing specifics. This is not a requirement if there is a strong willingness to learn! You will play an integral role in the company by working directly with customers and partnering closely with internal team members to continuously improve our product.

Say goodbye to the traditional designer position though. You will have access to tech that will remove a lot of the tedious back office work a designer traditionally does and you’ll also collaborate directly with our product and tech team for future features. Very cool, game-changing features in our roadmap. =)

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with design selections and decisions

  • Update and track design selections / decisions for easy collaboration and communication with the procurement team

  • Support ongoing collaboration and efforts to craft beautiful design collections

  • Review layouts and plans created from our tech

  • Collaborate with product and tech team on roadmap and upcoming features

  • Coordinate with necessary stakeholders to finalize plans and procurement to initiate purchase orders

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of residential interior design

  • Passion for design and flexibility to entertain different styles

  • Able to geek out about the smallest details of design and materials

  • Love working with customers to help them achieve their dream kitchens and baths

  • Open to new ideas and excited to develop meaningful innovation in this space

  • Buoyant and collaborative

  • New York, LA, or San Francisco based designers only
