We are a small team, working on both commercial and residential projects.  We work remotely right now, but plan to have an office eventually in the Hudson Valley.  Most of our current projects are in New York state, but we have worked in further flung locales such as the UK, Canada, and California.  The studio is organized in a flattened, collaborative way without a heavy hierarchy.  It is our plan to stay this way for a long time.  Trust, efficiency, and straightforwardness are the most essential values in a candidate.  Trust, freedom, and fresh thinking are our most essential values in the studio.  Thoroughness and clarity of communication is imperative.  Above all, we want to do good work, trust, and support each other, enjoy the process, and have rich lives outside the office.

This job listing is for a mid-level designer to work on both commercial and residential projects, however candidates without specific residential experience will be considered.  An appropriate candidate likely went to school for architecture, interior design or a closely related field and has a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in design and project management.  3 years is the minimum so please do not apply if you have graduated in the past 3 years, as experience is imperative.  This position would manage, design, direct, and execute 2-5 projects (starting with 2, growing perhaps to 5+) alongside principal designers.  Our design solutions usually address master planning and building envelope, as well as smaller scale through furniture, millwork, textiles, and styling.  All our projects include some form of custom design.

The position comes with a fair amount of autonomy and responsibility but is supported by other team members as needed.  Founder Loren Daye works on every project in the studio but prefers and supports that autonomy.  For this reason, this candidate must take initiative, have the confidence and conviction to lead as appropriate and adhere very strictly to deadlines – even if they are team or self-imposed.  Position will be remote with partial transition to office (Hudson Valley region) at some unforeseen date.

  • Creative and self-motivated
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial design as a Designer, Architect or Project Manager
  • Bachelor’s and / or master’s degree in related field
  • Total proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Total proficiency in AutoCAD
  • US Resident

  • Discretion and maintenance of confidentiality of all proprietary project information 


  • Contribute to, organize, manage, design, and execute projects from Concept / Schematic Design, through Construction Administration and Installation
  • Research ideas, history, products, and materials in service to generating sound design solutions
  • Collaborate and coordinate openly and seamlessly with project architects, consultants, and vendor
  • Be vigilant about organization and order, keep track of samples, tasks, and obligations
  • Understand products and methods of the vocation of design
  • Be on time, as scheduled and meet all agreed-to deadlines and milestones
  • Record and maintain accurate weekly time sheets
  • Keep clear and accessible records of correspondence and meeting minutes
