Are you great at AEC technology? Maybe you’re a tech-minded designer who is tired of constant deadlines, drawing tedious details, and living in PDFs? Do you wish that you could join an awesome firm and focus on what you do best – using the latest technology to make building designs become reality? We can make that happen. STG Design is looking for a Design Technology Specialist to join our Austin office.

We have a strong foundation in BIM and other technologies that we use to design some of the most exciting projects in Austin, Nashville, and many other places across the country. Our projects keep getting more complex and more interesting, and we need a design technology pro to help us take our technology practice to the next level.

STG’s Austin office is in the heart of the downtown that we helped shape through our work, next to some of the city’s best shopping, entertainment, and dining spots. STG’s employees enjoy our small office feel and all the perks of a big office support system. You’ll have direct access to management and benefit from our enthusiastic, helpful organizational resources team. We are a close-knit group that emphasizes work/life balance and appreciates a healthy sense of humor.

We Are:

· An award-winning commercial architecture and interior design firm with a 45-year history of delivering custom-designed solutions that leave our clients asking for more.

· Focused on outstanding customer service, design excellence and improving our community

· Committed to helping our employees become better professionals and better people

No day or project will be the same -- we’ve designed a children’s museum, created Oracle’s headquarters, reimagined a power plant, and helped change how Wilsonart recruits. We’ve learned that what we discover on one project type helps us innovate on another.

In this role, you will:

· Integrate with our most important projects to make sure that our design technology is working well and always on point, all the way from setup to substantial completion

· Use Revit, Rhino, and other 3D software to help translate our design ideas into virtual environments

· Work as part of the Design Technology team to propagate and improve design and production processes

· Provide training and desktop support for users of all skill levels

The Musts:

· Experience working directly with architects and/or interior designers

· Excellent Revit skills – you’re a power user who can push the software to its limits on complex projects. You can make any schedule, crank out custom families, and figure out how to get the most out of the I in BIM.

· Understanding of industry best practices and the ability to make them happen – you know the acronyms, have written (or at least used) a BIM Execution Plan, can make clean models consistently, and can help those around you do the same.

· We’d expect about 5 years BIM experience and exposure to good standards/best practices. This could be as few as 3 years if your experience is exceptional.

· Experience modeling in Rhino

· Passion for the latest in technology – you know what’s up, and you actively stay informed

· You’ve worked on full-scope, ground-up projects

· Good interpersonal skills and relationship building

· A degree or certificate in a related area of study: Architecture, Interior Design, construction, technical program, etc.

· Live in or relocate to Austin

These would also be nice to have:

· Professional experience as an architectural or interior designer

· Dynamo, Grasshopper, and/or coding skills (ideally Python or C#)

· You’ve been a part of a large project team consisting of consultants/contractors/owners and know how to communicate effectively with each

· Knowledge of multiple project types – our work ranges from single-tenant interior build-outs to 50-story mixed-use towers

· Experience with multiple delivery types, such as traditional design-bid-build and design-build

We hope that you’re excited, and we can’t wait to talk to you! To apply, please go to and select the ‘Design Technology Specialist’ position. Once you click ‘Apply Now,’ you’ll find the role after selecting the ‘Austin’ location and the ‘Technology’ category.
