Our client is looking for a dynamic and diversely-talented Market Sector Leader for Hospitality to lead a growing and diverse practice. They are a national firm and are willing to move this role from Chicago to another office location/city for the right candidate. Our client is committed to design excellence by being diverse, exploratory and sustainable-minded. In this position, you will join a highly creative team dedicated to innovative problem-solving and design excellence. 

We’re looking for someone who will build their practice by developing client relationships and managing teams in strategy, design and interior architecture, while leveraging and staying connected to regional and firm wide client initiatives. This role is an industry voice, project leader, strategy creator, design thinker, client advocate and relationship steward. You must love to push new ideas, be passionate about design and get excited about managing diverse projects with extremely talented creative and super-exciting clients across all industry segments. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice builder with a diverse portfolio of work to lead a client-interfacing team, enjoy utilizing business development skills, capture clients and projects, and deliver excellent design and outstanding client service!
The road map for success will require you to build on the collective excellence of the leaders alongside of you to set and achieve common goals. Your success will be based in the knowledge and patience to provide guidance to a variety of team members, advising and supporting where necessary.


  • Lead accounts and projects from business development presentations through strategy, design and delivery.
  • Lead client presentations to senior level audience
  • Manage multiple clients, and develop strategic positioning for clients
  • Accountable for client and project performance metrics
  • Work with a team and lead the initiation and closing of business development opportunities
  • Provide leadership to create strong, cutting-edge and innovative design concepts for a range of Workplace project types.
  • Responsible for building a forward thinking workplace practice with a strong point of view
  • Lead and build project teams, ensuring the quality of the work; develop and mentor each team member to the best of each individual’s talent
  • Motivate, inspire and push thinking of design teams
  • Create coherent and compelling presentations
  • Apply sustainable planning and design principles
  • Interface with multiple other client practices, including but not limited to retail, mixed use, hospitality, brand, healthcare and education
  • Engages with client’s regional and firm wide initiatives to stay connected, collaborate, and share best practices


  • Minimum of 10+ years’ of experience
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English
  • Excellent design skills
  • Outstanding ability to verbally and graphically communicate design concepts
  • Strategic thinking and ability to position clients with strong rational and conceptual design thinking
  • Business development experience, including proposal writing, client interviews and closing work
  • Extensive experience leading design teams
  • Strong leadership skills in motivating, developing, growing and leading talent
  • Excellent storytelling and writing capabilities; analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • History of excellent client relationships
  • Project management skills: schedules, scope and fee, team management and coordination, client communication
  • Able to travel to other client offices or client project locations if needed
  • Impressive references and personal portfolio of work
