ArchiCAD BIM Manager/ Project Manager

Purpose:

This position will work closely with Upper Management to oversee all projects and project teams, supervising Project Designers, Coordinators, Managers and staff.

The ArchiCAD BIM Manager/ Project Manager will work in parallel on a variety of project types and sizes within the office, and during all project phases and areas including:  code research + implementation, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction detailing, consultant integration and coordination, specification/ product research, interior design, importing, and construction.

General Responsibilities:

Office:

  • Streamline office project-related processes and procedures, standards and guidelines 
  • Update CRM/PM online platform with project activities, milestones, deadlines, etc.
  • Propose/ prepare administrative reports for weekly management meetings
  • Effectively balance the project scope of work, design integrity and overall project expectations
  • Foster an environment of collaboration, creativity and teamwork to accomplish goals
  • Lead project teams through successful execution of the contract deliverables across all project phases
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, vendors
  • Ability to follow and create efficient systems and operational processes and standards
  • Further develop in-house technical drafting standards

Finance + Operations:

  • Oversee Contract Management + Administration
  • Conduct Risk Analysis + Administration
  • Manage all financial aspects of projects including establishing and monitoring the budget; working with Controller to monitor project performance and profitability  
    • Oversee coordination with Controller for all billing details/ processes:  RFP, Quote Reviews, POs, Approvals, Invoices, Collections

Client + Project Related:

  • Design for high-end, custom residential architectural projects; will include some production for multi-family, mixed-use and commercial projects
  • Production of all required architectural drawings sets from Conceptual Design through Construction
  • Oversee project management, estimating, and scheduling
  • Oversee  Vendor, Consultant + Sub/ Contractor Coordination
  • Oversee project teams with meeting preparation, site meetings, and presentations
  • Oversee contracting, bidding, quality control, 
  • Lead client communication + management

Permit Processing:

  • Manage and lead all permit processing through governing agencies
  • Navigate building codes, accessibility requirements, local codes, zoning ordinances, and other technical documents to best implement into architectural designs and drawings
  • HOA + Government regulations, code implementation + permit expediting
  • Oversee all compliance items

Project Performance + Closeout: 

  • Oversee project review, analysis and documentation of project budget, quality, schedule, safety, team management, closeout, warranty, etc.
  • Process all closeout information for project completion/ overall performance review with Upper Management

ArchiCAD BIM Manager

  • Be the first point of contact within the practice for all ArchiCAD/CAD/BIM queries and to act as the ArchiCAD champion within the office.
  • Work with the Design Team to develop modeling strategies that address specific challenges delivering BIM traditional architecture and other project specific types/requirements.
  • Support the continued implementation of ArchiCAD software, protocols, templates and libraries management across the practice.
  • Help the practice to determine and fulfill project CAD/BIM requirements, BIM Level 2 and aid collaboration with consultants, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Act as the practice’s BIM Manager/Task Information Manager for all projects.
  • Share the role of the practice’s Interface Manager with the relevant job runners for all projects.
  • Liaise and manage the interface of other relevant software packages with ArchiCAD for implementation of BIM processes.
  • Day-to-day ArchiCAD troubleshooting / problem solving.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess current ArchiCAD workflows to improve staff and project productivity and efficiency, including developing protocols/standards, library management, bespoke library parts creation, hot-linked modules schemes, 2D drawing techniques, 3D modeling techniques, favorites, translator maintenance and other relevant workflows.
  • Assess training requirements for existing staff and provide ArchiCAD induction and training for new members of staff.
  • Maintain and update the current practice’s ArchiCAD templates.
  • Develop project specific ArchiCAD templates.
  • Develop and maintain the practice’s CAD/BIM manual.
  • Develop project specific BIM manuals.
  • Ensure correct set-up and continuing maintenance /audit of ArchiCAD files to comply with BIM - Execution Plans and practice CAD protocols, setting-up regular reviews with the project team and review modeling/ drawing techniques.
  • Determine, negotiate and agree on in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications; assess client requirements and ensure these are met.
  • Liaise with project job runners and consultant team to define BIM deliverables and facilitate collaborative working.
  • Work together with project job runners to provide input on fee proposals, resourcing plans, project programming, contractual issues and other relevant BIM related items.
  • First point of contact for all CAD-related troubleshooting and other queries, such as software/ license updates, server management (Install, manage and maintain BIMCloud servers), liaising with the IT team.
  • Attend Graphisoft and other relevant BIM events, stay up-to-date with the latest government regulations and industry guidance, and disseminate this information effectively across the practice.
