Studio ssam is looking for an intermediate architect with five to eight years of experience to join its practice in New York.

Position type: intermediate architect, full-time or part-time, hours flexible

Desired skills

Great eye, strong design sensibility and industry knowledge. Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills. Experienced in AutoCAD, SketchUp, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, physical modelling. Revit desired but not required. Licensure preferred.

Description

Studio ssam is an international design collective founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 2018. The practice specializes both in architectural and interior design, with experience ranging from boutique commercial spaces to bespoke residences.  As part of our studio ethos we seek to support people of colour as well as those with families who need flexibility in their working environment. 

We are seeking an architect who has experience in project management and can work independently. You must have an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to thrive in a smaller office setting. Emphasis on residential design and experience with NYC DOB/Landmarks Commission is a must. If you have previous experience in construction management and dealt with contractors and vendors a major plus.

  • independent attitude

  • flexible and can easily pivot from task to task

  • willing to travel if necessary

 

Experience in:

  • residential architecture

  • project management

  • NYC Department of Building and Landmark Commission filings

  • furniture and product design is a plus

  • material boards

  • managing deadlines and budgets

  • construction documents

  • client presentations

  • procurement

  • construction administration and management a plus
