Murphy Burnham & Buttrick is seeking a Junior Level Interior Designer to join our vibrant design practice based in New York City. Our award-winning practice centers on a collaborative studio environment prioritizing innovative and sustainable design. We have a diverse body of work including institutional, cultural, residential, and educational projects across a range of scales and are committed to creating architecture that elevates the human experience.

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Management of the materials and resource library which will include sourcing new materials and  organizing, stocking, and re-stocking materials on a regular basis. Coordinating and updating contact lists for architectural and interiors reps.
  • Coordinating and updating contact lists for architectural and interiors reps.
  • Coordinating and meeting with furniture and material reps to update the library and replace existing outdated materials.
  • Researching and presenting new (green, socially responsible) materials on a weekly basis.
  • Specifying and selecting FF&E.
  • Preparing client presentations.
  • Generating furniture and finish plans.
  • Assisting the interior design team and architects with all phases of a project.


  • A professional degree in Interior Design BFA or Architecture BArch.
  • Base knowledge of appropriate materials, finishes, and furniture.
  • Interest in residential and institutional design.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and research skills.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team atmosphere and meet deadlines.
  • Must have creative design and drawing skills – including material, color and furniture selection, design presentation skills, conceptual design abilities and 3D design abilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD version 2007 ADT, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience with 3D Modeling a plus.
