United Dwelling partners with homeowners to transform underutilized garages and backyards into affordable, high-quality homes known as Accessory Dwelling Units, granny flats, casitas, or in-law units.

We are dedicated to creating opportunities for our interns that go beyond the summer. We hope you will gain more than just work experience, but for this to be an opportunity to learn new and exciting concepts in development and construction.

The R+D intern will primarily be responsible for assisting in the preparation of Construction Instructions that will be used by the construction team to install our units. Daily tasks will vary from producing graphic design drafts and BIM to on-site field visits to verify installation conditions and testing of instructions. In performing these tasks, the intern is expected to gain technical knowledge in the design and execution of factory-built Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).

To excel in this role, the intern must be quick on their feet and not afraid to tackle new and unfamiliar concepts and tasks. A collaborative and open mindset is key to succeeding in this role.

This opportunity will build on what the intern has already learned while in school while making a meaningful contribution in a real work environment. If successful, the intern will gain a deeper understanding of the architectural profession as it relates to factory-built ADUs.
