Reports to: Director of Architecture & Building Science

Location: Austin, TX      

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team, you will design, evaluate, and deliver world-class high-performance wall systems, enclosures, and buildings using ICON’s technology set. As an ICONIC, you will be a leader and direct contributor to the development of entirely novel approaches to high-performance buildings and you will have the opportunity to work with your team to advance humankind’s ability to provide dignified, affordable, resilient, and sustainable shelter to the world.


  • Contribute to the development of ICON’s concrete 3D-printed (C3DP) wall system to maximize human comfort, safety, experience, and sustainability

  • Development construction drawings and building envelope CAD details for wall cladding systems, window and door systems, waterproofing, and roofing details and drawings 

  • Coordinate with architects, builders, and end users to discuss design concepts pertaining to the building envelope and develop wall system details specific to ICON’s construction processes 

  • Development of detailed BIM models and assemblies using various 2D and 3D CAD and graphics packages

  • Document wall assembly details and design schemes

  • Produce details and drawings that comply with contract documents and applicable building code

  • Perform technical reviews of shop drawings and construction administration submittals prepared by 3rd party contractors 

  • Participate in the evaluation of ICON’s building systems and building designs against various regulatory and testing regimes

  • Develop remedial work recommendations and plans for existing building projects


  • 5+ years of professional experience in complex, multi-disciplinary design and analysis projects

  • Professional Degree in Architecture (Masters of Architecture or accredited 5 year Bachelor of Architecture

  • Knowledge of AutoCad, Revit, NavisWorks, Rhino and Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Experience coordinating and reviewing all disciplines involved in the preparation of construction documents (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, etc)

  • Technical detailing and the ability to develop design options in collaboration with the technology and operations teams

  • Experience in Construction Administration including RFI's, submittals and other general construction related correspondence

  • Ability to take initiative in response to direction from managers and feedback from peers

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong knowledge of building envelope systems including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, and roofing details, including their installation means and methods

  • Working knowledge of test methods and standards associated with the testing of building envelope systems (primarily, but not limited to – AAMA/ASTM testing standards)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication with an emphasis on interpersonal and organizational skills


  • Tekla/ Dynamo experience is a plus

  • Architectural Licensing preferred

  • Proactive problem-solving skills 

  • Proficiency in energy and daylight modeling software is highly desirable (e.g. DIVA, Radiance, IES)

  • LEED accredited Professional.

  • Interest in sustainable design, novel architectural technologies, the craft of construction, and humanity’s future
