PROJECT ARCHITECT

Frederick Fisher and Partners (FF&P) has committed its practice to enhancing the passion and energy of communities and organizations of all types around the globe.  Our studio is inspired by a wide aesthetic character range influenced by historical and cultural references, local context, projected use and integrated technology.  Known for cultivating and enriching living, learning, cultural and working spaces in public and private atmospheres, FF&P’s projects are diverse while sharing a common approach of connecting people to their environments and each other.

Our LA and NYC studios are led by seven partners who stay directly involved in the daily nuances of the firm and are vital to developing project strategy and team organization.  The partners, along with handpicked designers, architects, and project managers, represent the future of FF&P as a firm that fully understands and appreciates each team member.  Our entire firm contributes to an ongoing shared dialog about new ways of living, learning, working, and experiencing art and culture. 

OVERVIEW:

You are among the best and the brightest—but not in the conventional sense.  Although a passion for design and expertise in architectural practice is a must, you are also full of new ideas, are eager to try new things, you are adaptable and flexible, and you take initiative.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking a leadership role in developing design, preparing a drawing set, design team coordination, and producing deliverables throughout the design process.
  • Assisting and/or leading project management efforts on projects.
  • Guiding and mentoring junior team members.
  • Assisting in the construction process: answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, solving construction-related issues and field problems.
  • Consultant coordination, including drawings review and design integration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with all aspects of professional services from schematic design through project close-out, including design and technical expertise.
  • 7-10 years architectural experience, minimum.
  • A Bachelor or Master of Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Architecture Licensure and LEED accreditation preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in building-making: building codes, structural and MEP systems, FF&E, construction techniques and detailing, cost estimating.
  • A comprehensive understanding of project coordination and the related requirements for all design disciplines to support project design, goals, and requirements, code compliance, jurisdictional reviews, and obtaining permits.
  • Facility using BIM as a design and coordination tool.
  • Expert in Revit and proficient with AutoCAD, Sketch Up, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and MS Office.
  • Strong graphic, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and can perform without constant supervision.
  • Problem-solver who can anticipate needs, help make decisions, and who enjoys working collaboratively with others.
