The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting accounting and finance. This is an ideal position for a detail-oriented candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment. The Senior Accountant performs the full range of functions needed to ensure a strong financial operation. Responsibilities include hands-on bookkeeping and accounting, assisting with budgeting and financial planning, preparing financial reports.

PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Controller
Collaborates with: Accounting, Purchasing, All Departments
Supervises: Accountant
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Bookkeeping/Accounting & Reporting
Ensure accuracy of general ledger
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
Collections
Factor Funding
Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
Support month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare financial reports for review
Prepare documentation for external auditors
Filing of sales tax returns
Assist with tax audits
Ensure compliance with internal controls
Review contracts, project labor and expenses and ensure accurate posting to projects.
Review and processing of expense reports
1099’s
Cash & Investments
Prepare bank deposits
Prepare wire payment / ACH processing
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card and factor statements
Other Functions
Act as key point of contact for clients and internal staff regarding billing questions by providing informed and researched information.
Provide general administrative support as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications
Proficient with technology, especially databases and word processing
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software required, ideally experience using Deltek and Studio Webware
A BS/BA degree, ideally an Accounting degree or certification, or commensurate experience
At least 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in professional services
Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues who may not have finance backgrounds; skilled at translating financial concepts into layperson’s terms
Keen analytic and problem-solving skills that support and enable sound decision-making
Good people skills; relate well on phone and in person; demonstrate patience and kindness in all interactions with clients, colleagues, and agency leaders
Excellent organizational skills; work well in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter with ability to maintain composure while juggling multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines
