Essential Responsibilities

The Job Captain role possesses four key responsibilities: 

  • Technical Documentation: Produce project documents in BIM software 
  • Consultant Management: Coordinate and develop relationships with primary consultants in the construction document and construction administration phase 
  • Quality Control: Ensure design intent and documentation quality on all deliverables 
  • Construction Administration: Lead construction administration efforts on multiple projects If you do not meet the requirements listed below, we ask that you spare us the application. 

Essential Job Functions:

As Job Captain, an individual shall: 

  • Execute project work plans in accordance with fee, schedule, and man hour constraints designated by management 
  • Produce project documents required for a complete set of Instruments of Service 
  • Redline and review the work of others 
  • Demonstrate mastery of code compliance 
  • Coordinate consultants, manage the scope of work, and develop optimal relationships with external vendors and consultants
  • Support Project Manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 8-15 years of experience in high-end residential, commercial, and interiors projects at all phases of the project life cycle 
  • Licensed Architect preferred, but not required 
  • The ability to visually communicate design through drawings, diagrams, and details with expertise and precision. 
  • Deep expertise in BIM technology 
  • Experience leading teams 
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Architecture 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong leadership and self- motivation 
  • Excellent delegation skills 
  • Highly skilled technically 
  • High level of intrinsic design competence 
  • Experience with putting together highly complex drawings sets 
  • Good awareness of design, industry trends, materials, and the aptitude to translate these ideas 
  • Punctual & organized 
  • Knowledge of California Residential Building Codes
