Communications Manager

KieranTimberlake seeks a Communications Manager to join our architectural firm. Comprised of professionals with diverse backgrounds and abilities, our design practice is recognized worldwide. Our transdisciplinary approach integrates architects, researchers, and communications professionals to create innovative, and compelling projects.

Responsibilities

Joining a communications team responsible for business development, graphic design, writing, visualization, publicity, and knowledge management, the Communications Manager will focus on executing promotional and public relations activities and ensuring strategic alignment between communications and business development pursuits. The Communications Manager will work in tandem with the Business Development Manager to assign, track, and guide communications team assignments to ensure goals are met.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Guide the communications team in creating marketing collateral, website, social media, and public-facing presentations.
• Oversee communications staff who produce and maintain these materials.
• Strategize business development pursuits with the Business Development Manager. Offer insight and ensure a “handshake” between communications and business development products.
• Coordinate speaking engagements (40+ per year) and compile presentations when required (with graphic designer).
• Work with the Communications Coordinator, Graphic Designer, and project teams to submit awards (about 20 per year).
• Work with the firm’s Principals to plan and manage photography commissions.
• Vet and assign inbound media requests and academic inquiries.
• Coordinate special projects such as exhibitions and in-office events as required.
• Lead regular communications team meetings to track and prioritize assignments.
• Field requests for team resources. Negotiate needs, schedule, and availability.

Qualifications

Candidates will have the desire and ability to collaborate with architects, communications, and research professionals to produce high quality content that promotes the firm and fits with the organizational culture. The ideal candidate will have an open and inquisitive approach to working with diverse content and unfamiliar subjects, and will have a flexible, keen, and highly organized approach to processes that contribute to the smooth, efficient functioning of the communications group from day to day. Candidates should have at least 5 years of related work experience, and academic experience with architecture, design, or urban studies.

• Prior experience working in a similar or related role
• Willingness to work both independently and as part of a larger team
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Strategic approach to developing communications content
• Excellent writing skills and extreme attention to verbal and visual detail
• Gracious, diplomatic approach to delivering and receiving feedback
• Experience with professional social media management
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Eagerness to learn new software as needed
