Senior Job Captain
We are actively seeking a talented, high performing individual with 8 or more years of experience to join our firm.
The Senior Job Captain will be responsible for project production, using their expertise to act as a technical or design resource within the office. You will collaborate with a creative team, reporting to Project Architect and Project Manager, to coordinate consultants and documents on a wide variety of projects and building types from design through bid/permit/construction.

Job Responsibilities:
General
· Perform some Project Manager responsibilities on small projects
· Understands and follows SGW production standards for the preparation and filing of documents and drawings
· Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
· Participate in office QA/QC procedures
· Mentor to Job Captains, Design Professionals, and Student Interns
· Leadership role in office operations and standards discussions
· Perform existing site surveys
· Lay out floor plans drawings and elevations from hand-sketched or preliminary drawings
· Provides design support for building and site design including floor planning, exterior elevations, and perspectives
· Perform code study (ICC or local code) relative to life safety requirements, building type, construction type, occupant loads, exiting, and rated wall applications. Interpret land-use regulations and perform basic zoning research such as overlay districts, bulk and density standards, and parking requirements.
· Coordinate the preparation of documents with consultants, contractors, team members and/or Project Architect or Project Manager
· Accurately prepare construction documents, including sheet layouts, drawings, and schedules
· Develop design or technical solutions under supervision of a Project Manager.
· Complete energy models (COMCheck, RESCheck)
· Review shop drawings and project submittals under the direction of a Project Manager or Project Architect. Process and maintain records of RFIs and submittals.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor or Master's Degree in Architecture or in a related field (construction or engineering).
· Proficiency with relevant computer programs including: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp or other 3D Modeling program, Adobe Creative, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu.
· Exhibit excellent communication skills; Listens actively and with empathy, acknowledges and responds to feedback
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
· Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
· Exhibits Leadership skills
